Two bound volumes and an index (gathering without cover) containing a report of the Auditor of South Carolina on claims against the state by South Carolina citizens for property losses caused by the Civil War due directly to Union military actions and other kinds of losses such as the escape of slaves, and citizen's destruction of their own property to prevent it from falling into the hands of the enemy. Volumes include abstracts of property lost or destroyed in Beaufort, Colleton, Charleston, and Georgetown Districts of South Carolina. Losses are listed under types of property: real estate, slaves, cotton, provisions, cattle, furniture, and miscellaneous.
